Introduction To Pigeon Lake

Pigeon Lake is the largest spring fed lake in central Alberta.

Summer Activities include ALL Water Sports, Fishing, Golfing & Several Camping Options available at the two Provincial Parks. Zeiner Provincial Park & Pigeon Lake Provincial Park both offer excellent beach access to the lake and have over night options as well as day use parks. Plan to spend a night or a weekend at one of the Yurts at the Pigeon Lake Provincial Park.

Limitless Hiking (www.tctrail.ca) (www.albertatrailnet.com) Along the trail system, you will enjoy nature as you Stroll down the board walk at Rundle’s Mission (www.rundlesmission.org) on the North Shore of Pigeon Lake and take a trip back to the 1800’s when trappers canoed on the lake. Quimet Park located in Mulhurst Bay is also steeped in history with tales of the cannery, commercial fishing that shipped Whitefish to fine dining establishments in San Francisco. Along the road in the Four Band Reserve, you can stop to visit a small graveyard. The blend of traditional religious symbols and the personalized headstones make it a reflective and poignant spot beside the eastern shoreline.

Ma-Me-O Beach on the South side of the lake boasts lengthy sand beaches, not to mention SPECTACULAR Sunsets!

The Village of Pigeon Lake (www.villageatpigeonlake.com) offers Exquisite Dining Options, Well renowned Spa, Quaint Country Inn, and Unique Shops. These Amenities back on to a Trail System through Trees and Ravines leading to the lake where Mother Nature’s Handiwork is evident at every turn.

Winter Activities are almost limitless with Ice fishing, several kms. of groomed Cross Country Ski Tails, Snowshoeing, Horse Drawn Hay Rides, Christmas at the Village Event (www.christmasatthevillage.com), Winter Golfing (sponsored by the Pigeon Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce). A Poker Rally is held in February.

Pigeon Lake is consistently monitored by government agencies. At times we hear that some beaches are a concern, however, even on those days, several other beaches are clear and ready to be enjoyed.
